Terms of Use

Use of Shelby County Criminal History is subject to the conditions below. Opening a page, reading its content, or using a search tool signals agreement. Anyone who does not accept these terms must stop using the site.

NO FCRA USE. Shelby County Criminal History is privately operated and has no government affiliation. It and its advertising partners do not provide services for credit, employment, insurance, tenant, or other decisions governed by the Fair Credit Reporting Act. The site is a Tennessee records reference, not a private investigation firm or consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site, independent from government. It neither stores official criminal files nor retrieves records, submits documents, or performs official checks for users.

The service points readers toward Shelby County courts, the sheriff's records unit, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the Tennessee Sex Offender Registry, and outside research tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

You agree that you will not:

  • Use bots, scrapers, or other automated tools against the pages
  • Attempt unauthorized access to any account, server, or system
  • Harass, stalk, or threaten someone with information found here
  • Interfere with site performance or another visitor's access
  • Use site content in a hiring, housing, credit, or insurance decision
  • Violate any applicable local, state, or federal law

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

Information from this site or a linked tool may not be used to stalk, harass, threaten, intimidate, or discriminate. Tennessee law restricts misuse of Tennessee Sex Offender Registry data and may impose criminal penalties. Registry information exists for public safety, never vigilantism or unlawful discrimination.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

Neither the site nor its advertising partners create consumer reports, credit reports, or regulated screening products. Shelby County Criminal History is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA. Information here or through a linked tool may not be used to:

  • Set insurance premiums or judge creditworthiness
  • Evaluate a renter or other housing applicant
  • Make a hiring or termination decision
  • Determine eligibility for a license, permit, or public benefit
  • Support any other decision regulated by the FCRA

Any check for a regulated purpose must come from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation or a provider that complies with the FCRA.

5. No Legal Advice

Nothing here is legal advice. General information about Shelby County records cannot determine how a charge, conviction, warrant, or expungement law applies to one person. Consult a licensed Tennessee attorney for that advice.

6. No Warranties

All material and services are offered "as is," without a promise that:

  • A partner search result will be complete or accurate
  • Every page is free from bugs, mistakes, or security flaws
  • The service will remain available without interruption
  • Published information is always complete, correct, and current

Charges, dispositions, sealing, and expungement can change a criminal record. Updates may lag. No content here is an official statement by a court, sheriff, clerk, or other government office.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links may lead to courts, sheriffs, state agencies, legal-aid resources, or outside search providers. Those destinations operate beyond our control. Their availability, content, prices, and data practices are their responsibility, so review the destination's own terms before use.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, graphics, logos, and code belong to Shelby County Criminal History or its content partners. They may not be copied, modified, distributed, or adapted without prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim liability for harm arising from site use, linked services, or reliance on information obtained through either.

10. Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold us harmless against claims or demands caused by your use of the site or violation of these terms, including related legal costs and fees.

11. Governing Law

Tennessee law governs these terms. Any dispute arising from site use must be brought in a court located in Tennessee.

12. Changes to These Terms

These terms may be revised at any time. A revision becomes effective when the updated text is posted here.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be suspended, limited, or ended at any time and without advance notice.

14. Severability

If one provision is found invalid or unenforceable, all remaining provisions continue. The affected language will be narrowed only as much as needed for enforcement.

15. Questions

Questions concerning these terms may be directed through the Contact page.
